Week 8 Pets, Donuts, and Persimmons

Pet Blessings!

They could not believe how big their Dutchmaid Donuts were...and man, oh man, were they delicious!

Using some teamwork to practice writing sentences...really working hard on using Capitalization and punctuation!!

Thank you for tracking down all of those coins and sending them in!! We will use them so many times throughout the year to work on different skills...even though the coins are noisy and clinky and so distracting...they are incredibly helpful in our hands on learning LOL and I have to admit, the kiddos were really good about putting their coins down as quietly as possible :)

Always a good day when we get to play outside!

Morning Tub Smiles :)

FACT FAMILY TIME!!!!!!!!!

Celebrating the Month of the Rosary with the whole school.

I can't even tell you how proud and impressed I am with how their handwriting is coming along-we all graduated name bootcamp...for now ;)

Always know it is going to be a fun spelling lesson when you get to use your scissors! We worked on homophones and picking out the right word for our sentences.

With First Reconciliation only a month away (I know-how in the world is it almost time for that!?!) we are working hard on having our Act of Contrition memorized and what better way to work on that than to turn it into a crafting moment, while we colored we worked on the words and then they practiced with each other afterward!

Time for centers!

One of my favorite things about being a teacher is sharing old, silly traditions, last week I got to teach them all about the Farmers Almanac Folklore of Persimmon Seeds predicting snow for winter...after incorrectly cutting 5 seeds...and some concern from the kiddos about the safety of my fingers, we found a knife that could cut through it the correct way and found a SPOON shape inside which means...A SNOWY WINTER!!!!! As you can hear and see, we were a tiny bit excited:) Sorry for the terrible camera work, I was doing this in self mode, recording over my shoulder while holding a knife haha but you get the point

While the older kids celebrated the end of testing week, we celebrated the end of having to be quiet all the time with some free crafting time, it always makes me smile to see what they come up with. And what a great lesson in how to handle being bored.

With so many airplanes made, we had to take a chance on flying them outside....
