Week 10 New Games and Caramel Apples
When the Math Lesson tells you to work on 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 by cutting up apples and comparing tastes for a graph...you almost have to turn it into a Caramel Apple Party-especially if it is a fantastic, fall, fun Friday! After receiving several compliments on their good behavior the last few weeks, they earned their Extra Recess afternoon!! Enjoy their beautiful Mass singing. We learned an addition game this week called Making Ten-they have to lay cards on top of each other that will add up to 10. They were fantastic researchers as we began our large Habitat Project! They picked a habitat, researched its weather, landforms. plants, and animals and then will be using their research to create a small diorama in class. After working hard on a narrative writing project, we did a little puffy paint crafting to help illustrate our fabulous fall stories! More from extra recess.... Day 1!
What a wonderful first day! They were so excited for everything we did, listened well, and were so kind to one another!!! We talked about first day jitters and what makes us feel better when we are nervous-then we made some "Jitter Juice" to cheers getting over our First Day Jitters!! It took awhile but we finally got our desks and supplies organized, started to learn our rules and routines, and enjoyed cheese pizza and recess- we are officially ready to enjoy our Second Day of Second Grade! Everyone found the classroom ok and were ready for Pledge and Prayer right away! Some Playdough Fun while Ms. Massman got attendance completed... A quick round of "Stand Up If..." to get to know one another....we have a lot of readers, bike riders, and candy lovers...
