Day 1!

What a wonderful first day! They were so excited for everything we did, listened well, and were so kind to one another!!! We talked about first day jitters and what makes us feel better when we are nervous-then we made some "Jitter Juice" to cheers getting over our First Day Jitters!! It took awhile but we finally got our desks and supplies organized, started to learn our rules and routines, and enjoyed cheese pizza and recess- we are officially ready to enjoy our Second Day of Second Grade!

Everyone found the classroom ok and were ready for Pledge and Prayer right away!

Some Playdough Fun while Ms. Massman got attendance completed...

A quick round of "Stand Up If..." to get to know one another....we have a lot of readers, bike riders, and candy lovers...

First Class Picture (we are still working on finding our "window" LOL)

Learning how to use the pencil sharpener...

Watch Us Grow This Year...

A little outside time after reviewing playground rules....

Finally lunchtime!

Getting ready for Jitter Juice...We read "First Day Jitters" which was all about someone who is very reluctant to start their first day of school because they have jitters about people not liking them, or not finding their room, or not having friends. In a plot twist we realize it was the teacher who had all of these Jitters!

The kiddos drew or wrote their Jitters on paper and we put them into their "juice", then on their cup we drew or wrote about all the things that made our Jitters better-hugs and kisses from our grown ups, Ms. Massman's smile and goofiness, our friends, yummy pizza at lunch...

And all of our jitters were gone!! Next, everyone got a turn to add ingredients to our edible "Jitter Juice": embarrassment juice (Lemon Berry Squeeze Hawaiian Punch), butterflies in our tummies (Starry soda), and finally Love Punch (Cranberry Syrup)

They were very good chef's and made a lovely Jitter Juice...some of us really loved the fizziness and some of us were not huge fans of the tartness of the cranberry syrup but everyone was brave and tried it! Then we watched an episode of Arthur to see how Arthur and DW dealt with all their First Day of School Jitters:)

Enjoy watching their reactions LOL It was a wonderful day getting to know one another and I hope everyone is excited to come back tomorrow:)
