Week 8 Moving and Grooving
We had a very active week! From having Science outside to enjoy God's blessing of beautiful weather on Tuesday to walking over to the Capitol to explore and learn for our Social Studies lessons, we were always on the move :)
Everyone had fun breaking out the scissors for our Homophone Spelling Lesson this week! They said you only tricked them on their homework a few times:)
Outside Science Lessons!!
All of the homophones we came up with....and.....
My absolute favorite one :)
Partner Reading: I loved hearing them work together-encouraging each other, helping each other on words. It was fabulous!! They were really getting into reading like characters and using their voices to read with expression!!
Recess fun :)
They enjoyed their Halloween Mario Brain Break
Our Pattern of the Day for Math turned into a dance LOL right, right, jump, right, right, jump, right, right, jump
They had so many questions after our Scholastic News about voting and elections so we took a field trip to the Capitol to explore...My dad showed them where all the papers for laws get printed and put together, all of the mail that gets generated at the Capitol, and all the cool machines that are in the Mail Room :) They kept saying "This is the best day ever!!!" I have to agree :) So far...because they even politely talked my dad into eventually taking them to the top of the Capitol.
Checking out the Senate Printing Room...while they were impressed with the giant towers of paper and huge copy machines they were most impressed with the Giant Staple Machine :) Haha They got to see it staple through 400 pages and apparently that is just way more cool than the 5 pages Ms. Massman's stapler can do....
They also thought it was cool that the machine doesn't actually use staples, it uses a spool of metal that the machine turns into staples as it puts the pages together. Minds were blown :)
Took some time to explore and learn about the difference between the country and states/the president and the governor...
And of course if you visit the Capitol you have to run the steps!!
Looks like a great week! What a fun and interesting trip to the Capitol too!
